Eight pillars, and where the scores come from

We do not score by feel. Every pillar rests on a published scale you can check for yourself.

Performance

Page loaded in Chromium, mobile and desktop, with CPU and network throttled.

Lighthouse’s official scoring curves

Security

HTTP headers, cookies, third-party script integrity, HTTPS redirection.

Mozilla Observatory scale, grade A+ to F

Infrastructure

DNS, TLS certificate and its expiry, SPF, DKIM, DMARC.

Read straight from public DNS

Accessibility

The rendered page analysed, contrasts computed, ARIA roles resolved.

axe-core, the engine Lighthouse uses

SEO

Title, description, Open Graph, canonical, sitemap, plus checks specific to your sector.

Google guidelines and schema.org

GDPR

Trackers set without consent, privacy policy, legal notices.

GDPR and French LCEN — the pillar English-language tools skip

Responsive behaviour and code quality come on top. The full scoring scale is published, including where we differ from Lighthouse.

Three reasons to believe us

A score is worth nothing unless it can be checked. Here is what we put on the table.

Before / after

A case you can reproduce

We published a small tradesman’s website carrying the most common defects, then the same page fixed. Both are still online: audit them yourself and you will get these numbers.

Overall score8795
SEO6688
Accessibility79100
GDPR7799

16 findings brought down to 7. Measured on 12 August 2026.

A fictional company, and a site we built ourselves for this demonstration — it is not a customer, and we would rather say so.

Barometer

What the sites we measure are actually worth

The barometer will appear here as soon as the sample is large enough for a median to mean something. We would rather show nothing than a statistic built on a handful of measurements.

Open scoring

Check our scores against theirs

Our performance curves are Lighthouse’s, our security scale is Mozilla’s, our accessibility engine is Google’s. Compare with PageSpeed Insights or Observatory: the numbers should line up.

We also publish the gaps we measure and what causes them — including the ones that do not flatter us. Our own site is audited like any other: that is how it lost its missing sitemap, and our tool lost a false positive.

Others tell you what to fix. We fix it.

This is where a conventional audit tool stops: a list of complaints, and you are on your own.

  1. 1

    Audit

One URL, two minutes, eight pillars scored.

  2. 2

    Understand

Every finding explained in plain language, with its evidence.

  3. 3

    Fix

The AI proposes the fix; the built-in editor applies it.

  4. 4

    Verify

Run it again: the report shows the gap with the previous run.

For agencies: multi-page crawling, weekly monitoring with e-mail alerts, white-label reports, an API and GitHub pull requests opened for you.

Try it first. Decide afterwards.

One full audit, with no account and no card. A free account then opens a daily quota — enough to judge on evidence before paying for anything.

The questions that keep coming up

Including the ones that do not flatter us.

Is the audit really free?

Yes. One complete audit is free — no account, no card — and the report is not cut down. After that, a free account gives you 3 audits a day, running exactly the same measurements as the paid plans.

What exactly do you measure?

Eight pillars: performance, loaded in a real browser on both mobile and desktop; HTTP header security, on the Mozilla Observatory scale; infrastructure (DNS, TLS certificate, SPF, DKIM, DMARC); accessibility through axe-core, the engine Lighthouse itself uses; technical SEO; GDPR compliance, observed without ever clicking the cookie banner; responsive behaviour; and code quality.

Why does my performance score differ from PageSpeed Insights?

Because PageSpeed Insights simulates a low-end phone and a slow connection arithmetically, where we apply both to a real Chromium. On a heavy site the gap reaches tens of points, and our score is what a visitor with a cold cache actually gets. Against a Lighthouse run with applied throttling, the gap falls back to a few points. The pillar-by-pillar detail is on /en/checkweb/comparatif; the measured gaps are on the methodology page.

Does this replace a full accessibility audit?

No, and no machine can. We settle 26 of the 106 criteria of the French RGAA (the national implementation of WCAG 2.1 AA) automatically; the rest needs human judgement. You get the automated findings, a prioritised remediation plan and a draft conformity statement — the legally binding audit remains an expert’s work.

What happens to the address of the site I audit?

The report goes into your own history, partitioned, kept for 90 days and deletable in one click. The public barometer keeps only scores and a date: neither the address, nor who asked for it.

Which languages is CheckWeb available in?

French (the default), English on /en and simplified Chinese on /zh. The whole report follows the language you pick — not just the menus, but the title, explanation and recommendation of every finding. The analysis itself is identical: the same measurements and the same scoring scale in all three languages.

Start by seeing where you stand.

A full audit, right now, with no account and no card. If the result teaches you nothing, you will not have left anything behind.
